MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Red Dragon Canoe Club

April 6, 2010

 

OPENING:  Meeting called to order @ 8:02pm. President Paul Jusino introduced Commodore, Susan French, who welcomed the delegates and announced they will be having a shad diner on April 17th.

 

GUEST SPEAKER: Ken Factor the new owner of Sea Tow. The membership fee for DRYL members is $129 ($20 discount). There are discounts throughout the country much like AAA, there is a list on the Sea Tow website. Ken is more than willing to attend any boat club meeting for more information.

 

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: All present except Treasurer.

ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE HEADS/ORGANIZATIONS: All present except Fleet Surgeon and Regatta.

ROLL CALL OF CLUBS: 28 clubs present

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS

President:  Juice thanked everyone for coming out – Thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter. Yearbooks are in, hope it is to everyone’s liking. Opening days are starting this month, hope to see everyone there. New brochures are in, please feel free to take some.

1st Vice President: John Maloney – no report.

2nd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.

3rd Vice President: Rick Patton – no report. 

Secretary:  Rick Patton – no report.

Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – no report.

Banquet:  Mary Jusino – no report

Cruise:  Bob Grace – Cruise will be the week of July 17th to the 24th. There are 18 boats going and we are sold out. Still send in applications to be on standby. If we have 2 boats interested it will be considered to extend the cruise to 20 boats. We will be going to Rock hall instead of Tollchester.

Donations – no requests.

Fleet Surgeon: Harry Borgersen – no report

NJ Legislation: John Honer – There was only 24 million dollars in the budget for the dredging of the Delaware River. Federal Judges are talking about doing all collective lawsuits at once, more to come.


Pageant:  Toni Nespola – Princess Bridgett from RYC and Princess Angela from WEBC were acknowledged. Crowns are not to be any taller than 2 ˝ inches; the princess attendance books are beginning from this point on; pageant raffle tickets are available. Meeting May 23rd for the Commodores and Fleet Captains. Commodores please be in whites for pictures with the princesses.

Picnic: Marie Houseworth  – Picnic 9/11/2010 at Pennsylvania

Public Affairs: discussed the differences of the costs between D.R. effort and N.Y. Harbor efforts, NY harbor being much more. However ships' passage to Phila. or Baltimore ports are much longer than going into NY harbor.

Regatta:  Fred Saunders – Poker Run July 10th. 

Safe Boating: Frank Gilbert – no report.

Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.

Webmaster:  Paul Jusino/Ben Lewitt – Website is up and running.

Yearbook:  Paul Jusino –Yearbooks are done a month early! Turned in $4,061.00. Invoices will be sent out shortly.

Boater Voter: Joe Campbell – no report.

CBYCA:  Bob Williams – no report.

National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – no report.

Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Bill Garwood – no report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

·         Check cut in the amount of $474.47 to Toni Nespola for pageant gifts

·         Check cut in the amount of $262.00 PDQ printing of the Raffle Tickets

·         Check cut in the amount of $200 for a deposit for Constaters.

·         Delaware River Invincible Naughty Knots Yacht Club has put in an application for membership to the DRYL.

·         Check cut in the amount of $8,003.06 for Gazett Printers for the printing of the yearbooks.

·         Check cut in the amount of $75.00 for printer ink as well as shipping for some of the books that need to be shipped.

 

FINANCIAL REPORTS

Checkbook opening balance for September was $11,746.42.  Financial secretary reported income of $4,836.00 while Joe Campbell reported disbursements of $9,014.53, resulting in a checkbook closing balance of $7,567.89. A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.
